Welcome to my New Studio!

Whew! What a day! The move was a great success. Since everything was well packed (self-pat-on-the-back) and I had an AMAZING moving team, the entire process was done in no time! With that said, I am absolutely exhausted and desperately need to get some sleep. I couldn't be more pleased with the space. There is still a tonne of work left to do, but at least the re-location is over with.

Observe my excellent parking skills as we grab the Studer A800 and EMT140 from my workplace.
I think I need some serious cred for this since it was before 9am on a Sunday.

Ken and I loading in the EMT140

Loading the Studer A800 - Notice my grimace as we move the machine... I did this a lot today.

All done! Even some time to goof around!

Back home, receiving some appreciated help from some moving veterans.
Making progress...

Fender Rhodes are really heavy... Jay was nice enough to laugh at us as we struggled up the stairs!
Just kidding! Jason moved way more than I did. Props to Ryan too. He worked his ass off.

See? Jay moving a big 4x10 Traynor cab.
I would also like to point Alex out here. He was a trooper. Partied hard the night before and STILL showed up.
A text from Alex this morning after asking if he needed anything:
"2 full glasses of water and a coffee please"
Almost done packing the truck!
Done

On the road! There is a fellow Penske Truck. I waved. They waved back.

Passing the Gladstone on the way to the new studio! How exciting!

Just a quick shot of us taking a look around before we begin.
The truck cleared out pretty quick. No stairs this time, so the dollies were a real treat.
Moving the console. Damn heavy and damn hard to handle when it's covered with cellophane.
Moving the EMT140. It wouldn't fit on the lift, so we had to improvise.
'It feels like we're carrying a casket.'
I forget which one of the guys said it, but it was actually pretty accurate.
(Edit: Not because there was a dead body in there... just plate reverb goodness!)

1...2...3... Down!
The last one! The Studer A800... 600lbs of analog goodness.
We used an appliance dolly with a lot of success.
Actually, it wasn't A LOT of success, but we did it. At an attempt to keep this blog PG, holy bananas!! Is that thing ever heavy!!!
Time to put the legs on! Unfortunately for those of you who are following the restoration of the console, this is a bit of a spoiler.
Little brother and big brother.
I don't know if Alex is admiring my work, imagining himself mixing a hit, or planning a party for the studio. Sorry Alex, no parties!

I like that my friends know how crazy careful I can be about my gear. They helped me when I needed it, and let me take care of some things myself. If there is one thing I'm crazy about, it's my Barefoot MM27's!
Speakers up!
No modules in the console, but Ryan makes up for any loss in coolness.

Things are actually going pretty darn well!
Moving the racks over to the console with Jay.

A lot of things in the general area of where they will be going! Done for the day!

And that was it! So much done and so much to do! Modules to restore, cable making to do, machines to repair... it's going to be a hell of a 2 months!
I would like to give a special thank you to everyone that helped! Ken, Ryan, Jason, Alex, Dad, Mum, Bob... everyone worked their ass off and the move wouldn't have been nearly as smooth without every single one of them. I think that all of you out there (including me) owe Tara a big thank you. Although she did almost zero actual moving (by my specific request), she was diligent in taking 364 pictures throughout the move! WOW! Trust me, I cut out a lot of good pictures.
Again, thank you everyone for all of the help! I am so happy with the space and can't wait to get it up and running.

On Thursday, I think that we will stay on our break from console restoration in order to attempt a quick repair. We'll see how the week goes though.
Thanks for reading!
